2013 Murray Hanson Lonestar Golf Classic
Feb 26 2013 - LSC Staff
Lonestar Soccer Club would like to invite you to our 6th annual golf tournament, Monday, April 15th, at Avery Ranch Golf Club.
In honor of our friend, colleague and Lonestar coach, we have dedicated our annual golf tournament to Murray Hanson by officially renaming it the Murray Hanson Lonestar Golf Classic. At the request of the Hanson family, all donations & proceeds raised will go towards our Lonestar Champions Foundation. To learn how you can participate in this wonderful tradition, please CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP!
The Champions Foundation was established in May 2006 and every cent of the money raised provides financial aid for qualified Lonestar families. Approximately 10% of families in the Austin area have an annual income below the poverty level according to the 2000 Census. The Champions Foundation helps families in our club afford for their children to play soccer and create an opportunity for young minds to thrive by providing financial aid for those who qualify based on economic need.

Lonestar SC in the Community!
Feb 26 2013 - LSC Staff
We would like to express a warm welcome to Louise McCann who joined the Lonestar family in the fall taking on the role of ‘Physical Education Program Coordinator’. Before joining Lonestar, Louise gained a 4 year Bachelor of Arts Degree in Physical Education (PE) with Qualified Teaching Status from the University Of Brighton in England and then proceeded to teach in the United Kingdom for 12 years as a PE Teacher, Athletic Director, PE Advisor and Faculty Head of Creative and Performance Arts. Louise is a very experienced PE professional and we are happy to have her knowledge and experience as part of the Lonestar team.
It is important that we educate young people about the benefits of leading a healthy active lifestyle and encourage them to adopt healthy habits in their lives. As part of this role, Louise will be providing monthly updates for our soccer players including fun physical activities to do at home, nutrition advice and lifestyle tips.
Louise’s work will extend further than our Lonestar players and will take Lonestar into the local community. Louise will work, assisted by Lonestar coaches, on our community project in local elementary schools and day care centers. They will primarily work with 4-8 year olds as these are the formative years and increasing participation and enjoyment of physical activity at these ages is critical. The coaches will work in different schools leading fun ‘physical activation’ sessions during the school day, after school and in the evenings with a sole purpose of demonstrating how much fun keeping fit and healthy can be! The team can also provide booths at Health Days and support for school events such as Track and Field Days or Wellness Days.
If you would like our Community Team to visit your child’s school, please contact Louise by email on lmccann@lonestar-sc.com or phone 512-899-1049 and she will be happy to book this for you!
