The former '87 Lonestar SC forward Jackie Acevedo moves up from the Houston Aces to the NWSL after earning her first Mexican cap in November. The NWSL revealed its national federation allocation list for the 2014 season and in Portland, where the Thorns are holders of the league's inaugural championship, only one change came through the allocation process - Jackie Acevedo, a 5'1" Mexican-born forward from Austin, Texas has been added to the Thorns' roster through the Mexican Football Federation (FMF).
Acevedo, 26, an impact player for the Houston Aces of the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) in 2013, Acevedo ranked among the league’s scoring leaders with five goals and four assists in nine league appearances and earning All-WPSL Team honors. Her assist total was tied for third-best in the league. Acevedo helped the Aces to a 12-1-0 (36pts) record, capturing both the division and conference titles as the team reached the WPSL Championship match, and she scored the team’s lone goal in the final.
