Coaching Additions for 2012-13 Season
Lonestar SC is delighted to have added such a well rounded group of coaches to our Full Time staff beginning June 1st/July 1st, 2012, continuing the trend, set in the 2011/12 season, we wanted to increase the number of Full Time Coaches to create a coach to team ratio that maximizes player development, and also maximizes the efficiency and longevity of our coaching staff.

We want to give a special welcome to Sophia Mundy who moves to us from Challenge SC in Houston, where she worked with many girls teams over the last two years. In addition to Sophia we are transitioning, from part time to full time; Tyra Ponce, Kelsey Rdzanek, David Lozano and Rory Blanton. In these five full time additions we have an excellent group of younger, enthusiastic coaches, each with tremendous individual qualities and traits, which will hopefully lead to them being an integral part of the coaching staff at Lonestar for many years. Tyra and Kelsey, along with Lorne Cameron, recently took the new USSF D License course and, on the back of which, have all been invited to join the STYSA ODP program under the leadership and guidance of Neal Ellis, STYSA DoC. Congratulations to all of them!

Ubaldo Vasquez, a long time Lonestar SC GK has been added to our GK Coaching program. Ubaldo will work primarily in the STH under the leadership of James Crowder our GK DoC and will be a familiar face to many at the club including many STH GK’s who enjoyed working with Ubaldo late in the Spring season.

Additionally, Jared Styles, who has been a part of our NTH Academy program for a number of years, has made the step in to our younger boys SII/DII program under the leadership of Alfie Gutierrez. Jared joins our select coaching staff with glowing references from our Academy Director Tommy St John and is the first of a number of coaches expected to make the transition in to select over the coming years.

Finally, Benn Fernie, Paul Dalglish and KC Crabb have either joined or been re-assigned within our full time coaching ranks and assume the following responsibilities. KC has taken on the SII/DII Girls NTH DoC position, Paul continues in his Co-Technical Director position while being officially added to the staff working with our top level younger boys teams, while Benn, formally the Jr Academy Director at Texas Rush, joins our FT coaching staff with our Boys and Girls SII/DII programs.
Paul, Benn and KC bring with them tremendous experience, qualifications and knowledge and have already shown themselves capable of seamlessly transitioning in to and adding to, the LSC coaching staff.

We are confident that we have a coaching staff in place that can move every player and every team forward, though focusing on player development, and striving to get the most out of the players and teams every time they take the field.

The balance of having experienced coaches working with and around our high energy younger coaches is beneficial to everyone and is an important piece of the overall growth and future of our programs. The weekly interactions that take place on a coach development level between all of our staff is great to watch, and will continue with our pre-season Coaching Symposium and weekly professional development sessions throughout the fall season.
