Information

I.  Lonestar Standard Warm Up:

We will utilize the FIFA 11 / ACL prevention warm up.  Each movement is designed to ensure every individual player is physically prepared for training and matches.  Every player should understand the protocol and sequence patterns.  The FIFA 11 warm up should be completed before any extensive training occurs at every training session.

II.  Technical Passing and Receiving Exercises:

After the FIFA 11 warm up is completed, the players will complete technical passing and receiving exercises.  The focus and purpose of these exercises are to enhance the players passing and receiving techniques, introduce the ball into the training session, and introduce problem solving concepts (tactics).

III.  Roles and Responsibilities (9v9 game):

The playing format is currently 8v8 for the Spring 2016 season.  However, US soccer will be moving to a 9v9 format in the Fall of 2016.  The positional requirements and principles of soccer remain the same between 8v8 and 9v9.  It is important each player has a clear and concise understanding of the roles and responsibilities of each position on the soccer field.  Please read the PowerPoint and use it is as a reference text. The PowerPoint also allows the individual player to understand the positional requirements coaches are assessing / seeking.

IV.  Player Performance Evaluation:

Self reflection is an important part of the training program.  Players should periodically evaluate their training and match performances.  Lonestar has created a Player Performance Evaluation form for players to use periodically throughout each season.  The Player Performance Evaluations should be brought to all player conferences and evaluations.  This will help both the coach and player to discuss the positives and address the areas of development required.

V.  Summary:

Soccer is an ever evolving sport.  Each attachment is a template and may be slightly altered dependent upon the team, opposition, stage of the season, climate, etc.  The purpose of this email to ensure each player has a clear concise understanding of the training protocol, roles and responsibilities of the team system, and to possess an active self reflection tool.
