Lonestar Players & Parents,
I hope this email finds you well. It's almost 2 a.m. and I’m here feeding my daughter, and I find myself reflecting on many things in life. In my short career of coaching, I've been very fortunate to meet great and very successful people. I've worked with coaches in the U.S. Soccer National Staff. During the summer, I met the goalkeeper coach for MLS Orlando City who offered me a chance to work with him when we both had the time. I'm currently a senior and finishing my degree this coming May. I think about all these good things I'm so grateful for, but I really think about the reason why it was possible. I'm a former Lonestar player and I was one of the kids that was being helped by the 24-Hour Marathon. It really changed my life during and after the time I was a player.
I'd like to share with you why the 24-Hour Marathon means a lot to me. In 2008, my family's business was hit by the recession. I had two years left of youth soccer and I thought they were over. Those years meant more than just playing soccer after school and weekends. My goal was to get a scholarship and play at the collegiate level, and I did. This event gave me the opportunity to accomplish my goals in life. I've met great people that have been with me in every step of my career.
Now, I feel very happy and proud to be part of this cause, united alongside every Lonestar player to make an impact on those kids who are really in need of this opportunity.
If you haven't created an account, please do so. This cause goes beyond than just playing soccer, and I'm proud to say that I was part of it.
