Exploring Collegiate Women’s Soccer at Texas A&M & Baylor University

In an exciting and enriching experience, Lonestar Soccer Club’s 11 FDL, 11G Black, 12G Red, and 13G Elite Black A and B teams recently visited the Texas A&M University campus to explore collegiate soccer opportunities. The young athletes not only had the chance to tour the impressive facilities but also had the opportunity to play games at the A&M Ellis and Baylor’s stadium. The special event ended with meeting Coach G, the head coach of the Texas A&M women’s soccer team, who shared his knowledge and experience with us. Dave Smith, our Girls’ Program Senior Director mentioned, “it was a great opportunity for our girls to experience the level of women’s college soccer.”

The visit was more than just a sightseeing tour, as the girls were invited to witness the Texas A&M team in action against formidable opponents – Dallas Baptist University and the University of Houston, both distinguished Division I schools. The opportunity to watch high-level collegiate matches provided the Lonestar players with valuable insights into the intensity and skill required at the next level. Brian Monaghan said, “Young LSC players received an early lesson in what it takes to play at a top college program from TX A&M Head Coach G Gurrieri after a recent visit to TX A&M. The teams were invited to play on the A&M Ellis Stadium soccer field and watch the Aggies play. The first of many opportunities ahead.”

Coach G, known for his commitment to developing top-tier athletes, took time to speak with the Lonestar teams, offering advice and sharing his experiences as a collegiate soccer coach. The players were inspired by his words and gained a deeper understanding of the dedication and hard work required to compete at the collegiate level.

The event highlighted Lonestar Soccer Club’s dedication to providing its players with exposure to potential collegiate pathways. Lonestar has been proactive in creating opportunities for young athletes to explore their soccer ambitions beyond the youth level. The club believes in building a strong foundation for its players and actively supports their aspirations to play collegiate soccer. By exposing the players to collegiate environments, they are better prepared to make informed decisions about their future in both soccer and higher education.

Our staff will continue to foster an environment that nurtures talent and encourages the pursuit of higher education through sports. As the players returned from this enriching experience at Texas A&M carrying cherished memories but also a deeper understanding of the possibilities that lie ahead on their soccer journey.
