LSC/SAFC Juniors

The Lonestar SAFC Juniors league is open to players interested in joining Lonestar Soccer Club at the Recreational and/or Junior Academy levels. As part of the collaboration with San Antonio FC, the Lonestar SAFC Juniors program is the first stepping stone for players to join the development pathway in San Antonio. Whether your player is just starting their soccer development journey or looking for a new challenge, the Lonestar SAFC Juniors league is the place to be!

9-11 week season consisting of minimum weekly practice and a weekend game, totaling between eight and ten games per season.
Teams are coached by parent volunteer coaches who are educated under the Lonestar player development model and curriculum with support from on-site Lonestar professional coaching staff.
Players are evaluated throughout the season and may be provided additional training and game opportunities when needed.
No league standings.
Matches and teams may be coed based on registration and age-appropriateness.
No punting to increase your player’s ability to receive the ball under

FAQs

What equipment does my player need?

For each practice and games, players need soccer specific shoes (cleats or turf shoes), a size 4 soccer ball (size 3 for U5/U6), shin guards (worn under the socks), and a water bottle.

Where do games take place?

All games take place S.T.A.R Soccer Complex in San Antonio on Field 5.

Who coaches the teams?

All teams are coached by parent volunteers with support from professional on-site Lonestar. All coaches are KidSafe, HeadsUp/SafeSport certified.

Are there standings, scores, and league winners?

As a purely developmental league, the SAFC Juniors league does not keep standings, and no winners are announced at the end of the season.

Are there trophies/awards?

Yes, end-of-season awards are provided at the end of the season in the last week of practice/games.

Is it possible to come into the Juniors league and play with a friend?

Yes!

What volunteer opportunities are provided?

As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, Lonestar SC relies on volunteers to help with the operation of the Lonestar SAFC Juniors program. If you do not wish to volunteer and complete 3 hours of volunteer support, a $35 buyout will be applied to your account. Volunteer opportunities are sent out to families during the season and include:

VOLUNTEER BUYOUT

As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, Lonestar SC relies on volunteers to help with the operation of the Lonestar Juniors program. A $35 buyout fee will be applied to your account automatically. Volunteer opportunities are sent out to families throughout the season and once you have completed your Volunteer Opportunity, you will be refunded your $35 Volunteer Buyout. Ways to volunteer are listed in the FAQs above.

REFUNDS
