The 07G Red Earns the Fourth Star

Richmond, Virgina, July 14, 2024 — Lonestar’s 07G Red team clinched a historic victory at the GA Nationals Finals held in Richmond, Virigina, solidifying their status as champions after a tough competition that unfolded from July 11 to 14.

The journey began on Thursday with the quarterfinals, where the Lonestar 07G Red faced off against SC Del Sol from Arizona. In a closely contested match, the Lonestar girls secured a 2-1 victory with goals from Sadie Guzman and Carter Utkov. The momentum carried into Friday’s semifinals, where they edged past Virginia’s The St. James FC with a brilliant goal by Sadie Guzman in a game that concluded with a 1-0 win, which secured them the spot for the Final.

On Sunday, the 07G Red team clashed with the formidable Nationals 07 GA Blue team. Lonestar fought hard and won the game with a 2-1 scoreline, claiming the championship title. The goals were scored by Sophia Peters and Finley Newell. Sloane Guion earned the U17 Most Valuable Player (MVP) accolade for her great contributions throughout the tournament. Additionally, Brooklyn Escobar’s exceptional goalkeeping skills were recognized with the Golden Glove award for the least amount of goals conceded.

This triumph is already in Lonestar’s history as it elevates its stature with a fourth National title. The achievement reflects not only the players’ dedication and skill but also the strategic guidance of the coaching staff throughout the whole season. Head coach Zack Pope, along with support Coaching staff Jackie Pope and Edgar Anzaldo, played pivotal roles in shaping the team’s success, providing the necessary guidance and motivation.

Speaking after the final, Coach Zack Pope expressed immense pride in his team’s accomplishment. He emphasized the players’ commitment and teamwork, and discipline that started in August of 2023. He mentioned how winning the championship is just the end product of months of hard work that eventually proved to be worth it.

The Fourth Star stands as a testament to the exceptional environment fostered by Lonestar Soccer Club, where talent and a winning mentality is maximized to its fullest potential. The 07G Red team has solidified Lonestar’s reputation as a powerhouse in youth soccer, not only locally or regionally, but Nationally.
