AUSTIN, TX – On Sunday, November 3rd, Lonestar SC USL-20 secured a hard-fought 2-1 win over AHFC Royals with Aiden Bailey, one of our 2009 players, scoring the first goal and Aaron Olalde, one of our senior players and captain, scoring the second goal to win the game, claiming first place in the Male U20 Lonestar Division of the USL Academy League. The victory not only crowned them division champions, but also earned them an automatic spot in the highly anticipated USL Academy League Finals in Florida, where they will compete for the national title next month.

The USL Academy League provides an elite platform for youth players, helping bridge the gap between youth soccer and higher-level collegiate and professional opportunities. Lonestar SC focuses on building its team around a pool of players from its National program, specifically targeting athletes born between 2006 and 2009. Through participation in the Male U20 Lonestar Division, these players are exposed to high-level competition that helps them refine their skills and prepare for future college recruitment or professional opportunities.

Lonestar finished the 8-game season with a record of 4 wins, 2 losses, and 2 ties. Their strong performance earned them first place in the Male U20 Lonestar Division and secured their spot in the upcoming USL Academy League Finals in Florida. Don Cameron, Executive Director, praised coaches Tristan Donovan and Sergio Torres for their outstanding contributions throughout the season. “I’m incredibly proud of both the players and the coaches for their hard work and commitment,” he said. “This division title is a well-deserved reward for everyone’s efforts.”

With the division title in hand, Lonestar now shifts its focus to the USL Academy League Finals, which will take place in Florida from December 5-8. The event will feature single elimination matches over the course of three days, culminating in the championship game on Sunday, December 8. The best U20 teams from across the country will compete for the national title, and Lonestar SC is eager to test themselves against the top teams in the national level.

Good luck to Lonestar SC USL-20 as they aim to bring home the USL Academy League Championship!
